Microsoft Dynamics SL - flexible enough to support GC and Commericial business environments
(Wed, 11 Apr 2012)
With
a growing project portfolio, Shared Spectrum Company (SCC), a government contractor focused on building new technologies that leverage the radio frequency spectrum,
needed
an integrated project management and accounting solution. To meet this requirement, the company deployed Microsoft Dynamics SL after also closely considering Deltek Vision.
Dan
Simmon, Controller for Shared Spectrum Company, says, “Not only did Microsoft Dynamics SL cost about 15 percent less than Deltek Vision, it is also flexible enough to support a commercial
business
environment when our products catch on in the private sector.”
With Microsoft Dynamics SL in place, SSC has improved project accounting, eased reporting, and laid a solid IT foundation for ongoing company growth. Says Simmon,
“By using Microsoft Dynamics SL, we have been able to bring all facets of our business together under one solution—from timecard entry to integrated project management and
accounting.
Because of this, we can work to streamline our reporting and be ready for whatever opportunities the future may hold.”

Switch from NetSuite to Microsoft Dynamics SL
(Wed, 11 Apr 2012)
Once relying on NetSuite, Mercom Corporation made the switch to Microsoft Dynamics SL. Says Jeff Miller, Chief
Financial Officer of Mercom Corporation,
“Compared to the cost of NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics SL will provide us with a full payback in two-and-a-half
years while also providing us all the project management capabilities we need.”
In addition to payback, Mercom has also been able to improve, ease reporting, and maintain DCAA compliance. Says Larry Mercado, Chief Operating Officer of Mercom
Corporation,
“In terms of DCAA compliance, we found that Microsoft Dynamics SL handled most of it right out-of-the-box. By using the Business Portal, we can restrict data and provide
reporting and auditability where needed,
which enables us to satisfy our key government clients and win new government contracts.”
